Treatment is holistic and focuses on the whole person rather than just one symptom
What to expect from your treatment
An initial consultation is required on the first appointment which includes your first treatment. Treatment is holistic and focuses on the whole person rather than just one symptom or the disease. In order to have a full understanding of what is happening in the body Liz will go through your health history, including a look at your physical and emotional wellbeing and lifestyle. Traditional Chinese Medicine uses a pulse and tongue diagnosis, so Liz will take a look at your tongue and take your pulse at each appointment.
During treatment single use sterile needles are used and inserted into various acupuncture points around the body. These needles are very thin and inserted superficially so no discomfort should be felt. Some needles may be inserted and then withdrawn immediately, or others may be left in for a short amount of time depending on the treatment. Everyone is treated as an individual and so no two treatments will be the same. Patients should feel a sensation on the point where the needle has been inserted which should be painless and quite often patients report feeling very relaxed during and after treatment.
Liz may use other Traditional Chinese Medicine tools to help restore wellbeing. These include Cupping and Moxibustion. Cupping is the use of Glass or Plastic cups which are used to create suction on certain parts of the body to stimulate blood flow to the area, release pathogens and ease tension. Moxibustion is the gentle warming of the Chinese Mugwort Herb over acupuncture points or channels on the body.
